What is Speedcubing?

In my spare time, when I'm not working on something, I like to solve Rubik's cubes as fast as possible. I could be playing video games or doing another hobby, but solving Rubik's cubes is very therapeutic. I enjoy other hobbies, such as guitar playing, but the main topic is speedcubing. The question is why speedcubing and particularly solving Rubik's cubes. Speedcubing is a hobby/sport where people solve Rubik's cubes or other twisty puzzles as fast as possible. Before I started speedcubing, I wasn't interested in solving a Rubik's cube. I got my first cube from a Christmas party and was trying to figure out how to solve it. I go on YouTube and watch tutorials on how to solve one step by step. When I eventually solved my first cube, I was proud of myself and happy that I solved it. As time passes, I go faster, and now I can solve one in around 10 or 9 seconds on average. In speedcubing, there are competitions for people to do official solves and meet new friends. In speedcubing competitions, people mostly go there for the people, not the solves themselves. What I like about speedcubing is the community and how they build each other up. Everyone in the speedcubing community is very kind, welcoming, and supportive. I only went to one competition, but my experience was fun. To end, I recommend anyone reading this to try and solve their first cube and see how far it takes them.
